Historically CORGI has run a mandatory gas registration scheme. In 2005 the Government introduced changes to the Building Regulations that directly affects gas installers, plumbers and electricians. To support people working in these areas CORGI launched three new voluntary membership schemes covering plumbing, electrical and ventilation work.

The registration year for all CORGI scheme's runs from 1st April through to the 31st March the following year. Regardless of the time of year you apply for registration, the full fee is applicable.

In addition, the CORGI Certification Scheme for CORGI registered gas installers is a voluntary scheme that covers gas work and enhances the mandatory CORGI Gas Scheme. It provides a way for you to demonstrate that you have rigorous business procedures and quality management in addition to working safely with gas.
