Introduction to ACS

The Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme is generally referred to as the ACS. Its primary function is to ensure that individuals can be assessed against a set of national criteria based on current standards, best working practice and technology. ACS is available for experienced gas operatives who are required by law to demonstrate their competence to carry out gas work in the UK every 5 years.

The scheme is accredited to BS EN ISO 17024 by The United Kingdom Accreditation service (UKAS) and Managed by the ACS Scheme Committee.

There are currently 7 Certification Bodies accredited to offer ACS assessments through a network of subcontracted assessment centres.
