Additional CORGI Registration

CORGI is now adjusting the cost of additional CORGI registrations to make it easier and less costly for individual operatives to work on “private jobs” legally. As a result of this existing members can now take an additional registration at a much lower price with less hassle.

CORGI attended the All Party Parliamentary Group for Gas Safety on 24 July 2007 and gave an overview of work being undertaken to raise the awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide..

HSE Warns Landlords To have Gas Appliances Tested

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has warned landlords to ensure gas appliances are safe for tenants.  The warning comes after ten people in three flats were poisoned by carbon monoxide (CO), from a faulty boiler in a flat adjacent to theirs.

Beware of Fast Track Plumbing Courses

Plumbing industry organisations are receiving an increasing number of complaints from people who have paid large sums of money for ‘fast track’ training to become plumbers only to discover that the training is inadequate, the advertised qualifications are not fully achieved and/or the promise of lucrative work is non-existent.

‘Gas Deaths Down’ says Trust Funded Report

A review of carbon monoxide incident information for the 2006/07 period has revealed that deaths as a result of carbon monoxide produced by a gas appliance are at the lowest levels since recording began in 1996/97.
