Holidays are meant to be about getting away from the daily stresses of life, but your holiday accommodation could have a silent killer waiting for you, something you could be prepared for. Carbon monoxide is known as the silent killer as you cannot see or smell it but it’s potentially lethal. It can be caused by appliances such as boilers and cookers which mean taking an audible carbon monoxide alarm should be high on your list of important things to pack.

In 2006 two young children in Corfu tragically died when carbon monoxide fumes overcame their holiday villa. If you’re taking children to a foreign country on holiday we encourage you to take a carbon monoxide alarm with you. Safety standards in other countries may vary leaving you with no way of telling whether you’ll be safe in the apartment or hotel you’re staying in.
