The sentence passed was a £1,500 fine that is payable at £100 per month, plus a £1,500 contribution to the prosecution costs of over £28,000, also if payment is not received then a 45 day custodial sentence will be imposed.

Mr James Gibson-Brown was previously CORGI registered under archived reg no 156577 for the period 18/07/96 - 12/10/98. Mr Gibson-Brown has subsequently become CORGI registered again under reg no 228386 from 15/02/07 for CORGI's CPS plumbing scheme.
Mr Gibson-Brown was found guilty of 3 charges under the Trade Descriptions Act and 1 charge of Deception at Gilford Magistrates Court. He was fined £4,000 for each offence with £5,000 towards prosecution costs plus £1,277.22 compensation for the consumer, a total of £10,277.22.
Surrey Trading Standards stated this was an excellent result for them and thanked CORGI for their assistance in ensuring a successful case.

Mr A Mitchell t/a Mitchell & Sons
CORGI provided the HSE with two statements in August 2007 confirming the registration status of the business and a statement following the Inspector's investigation into a non-reg complaint.
Mr Mitchell pleaded guilty to 1 charge under the Gas Safety Installation and Use Regulations, regulation 4, as a person in control of works in relation to a gas fitting not having ensured that the work was done by a member of a class of persons approved by the HSE. He was fined £2,500 and ordered to pay costs of £1,500.
