A registration check and confirmation regarding CORGI ID cards, confirming the non registered status of Mr Brookes, were used to assist Trading Standards in their case.
CORGI provided Barnet Trading Standards with a statement in October 2007 stating that Mr Bishop was not currently nor had previously been CORGI registered.
As a result of the Trading Standards investigation they pursued a case against Mr Bishop under Section 14 of the Trade Descriptions Act 1968. On 1 November 2007 Mr Bishop was found guilty. As he failed to turn up to Hendon Magistrates Court a warrant for his arrest was issued and he was arrested two weeks later. He was taken back to court for sentencing and was fined £750 and a compensation order was awarded to the customer of £750.
