Prosecutions March 2008 

Mr David Mees t/a Dee Services. Mr Mees appeared at Welshpool Magistrates Court on 12 February 2008. Mr Mees pleaded guilty to nine offences under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations and four offences under the Trade Descriptions Act. Mr Mees was placed on a community order with a requirement that he should attend for 280 hours unpaid work. In addition, he was placed under a supervision order which will require him to report to the Probation Service. He was also ordered to pay a contribution of £6,000 costs to the HSE and £750 costs towards Powys Trading Standards.

A Mr Michael Philip Reed t/a WAF Services appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on 7 March 2008 and was fined £250 for an offence against section 33 of the Health and Safety at Work Act, £500 for an offence against section 14 of the Trade Descriptions Act together with a compensation order of £ 65, prosecution costs of £721.86 and a court surcharge of £15.

A Witness Statement was provided by Sarah Hill to Hampshire Trading Standards in February 2007 confirming Mr Reed's registration status. Mr Reed was previously registered for the period 8 February 1991 to 9 July 1998 and his registration was withdrawn for failure to demonstrate competence.
