Where to Install Your Carbon Monoxide Alarm

Unlike LPG, Carbon Monoxide is the same weight as air so a Carbon Monoxide alarm should not be fitted at low level. They need to be fitted in a central location, about a couple of metres from potential sources, but close to you and your family. They should not be fitted;

  • In areas of dead air
  • Next to windows
  • Directly above a sink or cooker
  • Where it is likely to get knocked or damaged

Follow the the manufacturer's instructions to ensure you install the alarm properly.  Remember that Carbon Monoxide alarms must never be used instead of an annual gas safety check.
