Technical Certificates have been introduced into the NVQ framework to ensure candidates knowledge and understanding required by the award is adequately assessed and are obtained through off-the-job training normally undertaken within a college or training centre. The course content will cover a significant amount of the knowledge and understanding required by the NVQ and needed for the job to be undertaken.
As there is no requirement for work based experience or assessment they should not be considered as a stand alone certificate unless you have a specific requirement or need to be assessed in your knowledge and understanding of an engineering discipline.
Technical Certificate’s are separately certificated from the NVQ and should not be considered as a full qualification or award.
Unlike Gas or other Building Engineering Services N/SVQ’s Technical Certificates are not considered as an acceptable pre requisite for candidates intending to undertake ACS assessment and subsequent registration with CORGI.

- Gas (Installation & Maintenance) City & Guilds 6132 level 2 & 3
- Plumbing (Basic Plumbing) - City & Guilds 6129 – 22 level 2
- Plumbing (Plumbing Studies) - City & Guilds 6129 – 33 level 3
- Heating & Ventilation - City & Guilds 6128 level 2 & 3
- Refrigeration & Air Conditioning - City & Guilds 6127 level 2 & 3
