Firstly, I hope that everyone had a happy and safe Christmas and I would like to wish you all every success for 2009!
Since the last eNewsletter so many things have been happening both with The CORGI Trust and our growing relationship with a variety of trade associations and government agencies and departments.
The CORGI Trust has secured the services of Michaela Grnova, previously from CORGI Customer Services who is working as Challenge Events Coordinator until October 2009. I will be telling you more about these ‘fun’ and challenging events later on!
If you have any comments, questions or would like to help support The CORGI Trust by organising fundraising events within your company, amongst your friends or family, do get in touch and we can help support you with materials so please email us at: Trustmanager@trustcorgi.com
I hope you enjoy reading this latest eNewsletter.
Kind regards

The CORGI Awards – The CORGI Trust Award
For the first time, The CORGI Trust sponsored a CORGI Award which focused on the best campaign or media portrayl of gas safety and the winner was Hollyoaks - for their highly emotional and factual story about carbon monoxide exposure. The CORGI Trust Award, presented by Mary Benwell, Chair – The CORGI Trust, was made to three members of the Hollyoaks cast.
The CORGI Awards is the annual high profile ceremony for the gas industry and The CORGI Trust is proud to be associated.

The CORGI Trust – Challenge Events
As mentioned earlier, Michaela Grnova has joined The CORGI Trust as Challenge Events Coordinator and we are launching two exciting and fun challenge events in April and September 2009.
The first is the Brecon Challenge event taking place in the beautiful surroundings of the Brecon National Park in South Wales with the second being in the glorious Snowdonia National Park in North Wales in September 2009.

Capita – Gas Safe Register
In early December Capita launched the brand name and logo of the new gas registration scheme – Gas Safe. This powerful new design is aimed at ensuring that gas installers and engineers as well as consumers recognise the new gas safety mark in the fastest possible time.

Carbon Monoxide Consumer Awareness Alliance (COCAA) Update
As Chair of COCAA, I was very proud to launch on 22 October 20008 the Carbon Monoxide – Be Alarmed campaign. This consumer focused campaign was lead by Kirstie Allsopp of Channel 4 – Location, location, location and developed by Fishburn Hedges agency.
The results to date have been phenomenal with exceptionally high media interest, considerable MP involvement and highly increased awareness of carbon monoxide and its effects.

The CORGI Trust Annual Review 2007/08
It has been decided this year not to spend monies printing ‘hard’ copies of the annual review but to place the relevant information on the CORGI website.
The CORGI Trusts annual financial return to the Charities Commission has been accepted and approved.
Grant Funding Update
The report of the CENSY programme funded by The CORGI Trust and undertaken by Dr. Ben Croxford, UCL London, is about to be finalised and we will release the outcome results in the first quarter of 2009.
Finally...
The coming year will be very challenging to all of us – economic uncertainty, potential increased redundancies and unemployment, consumer products prices increasing but all is not doom and gloom – The CORGI Trust will maintain is key role in working for increased safety of gas, and its products, and that with your support we will go positively forward.
I thank you for your previous interest and support in The CORGI Trust and look forward to working with you in 2009!!
