Well, what a quarter this has been for The CORGI Trust! Good news, bad news and exciting new developments with more associations, groups and businesses within the gas industry.
Our plans for the next quarter are just as exciting, especially with the new developments being created by CORGI Services Limited, the current funding body of The CORGI Trust.
I welcome hearing from you about your views, ideas, issues, questions and advice and support, please keep in touch - as they say - It’s good to talk!
Enjoy reading this eNewsletter.
Kind regards
Nigel Dumbrell
Trust Manager of The CORGI Trust

The CORGI Trust Reception
In April 2008, the Trustees held a reception at The Glaziers Hall, London to inform people about the work that the Trust had undertaken to date and our plans for the future. This event was supported by the attendance of many individuals from trade bodies and associations as well as corporate businesses and was generously sponsored by Honeywell.

Order! Order! Order!
Over the last three months I have spent nearly one day a week in the Houses of Parliament. My attendance varies between serving on the All Party Parliamentary Gas Safety Group to briefing ministers about issues surrounding carbon monoxide from within their constituencies and the work of The CORGI Trust. We now have a growing portfolio of parliamentarian supporters which we will develop in championing our exciting and crucial developmental work.
Allied to the above I also have regular meetings with government departments e.g. Dept. of Health, Health Protection Agency, DEFRA, BERR (ex- DTI) and DCLG.

Stakeholder Development
Within The CORGI Trust's - ‘Blue Flame Strategy’ we have highlighted our initial stakeholder targets for development and over the past months we have progressed work in different areas.

The CORGI Trust Events Update
We will be launching and promoting a series of challenge events taking place next year and hope that you and your organisation or company will support. We will be commencing the marketing campaign for these events following InstallerLive in September.
At Installer Live this year, CORGI will be holding a five-a-side football tournament with the funds being donated to The CORGI Trust. I very much look forward to seeing as many of our supporters at this ‘fun’ and ‘exciting’ event.

And finally, the bad news - well maybe not?
The HSE have chosen the Capita Group as their ‘preferred’ partner to operate the current gas registration scheme from April 2009. Although, initially, this was a major blow for CORGI, and a shock for the gas industry, we are now seeing some exciting new opportunities for CORGI commercial operations to develop in the future.
The CORGI Trust, currently, relies on the profits generated from CORGI commercial services to fund its developing work as a donation. No funds are donated from the gas registration or Competent Persons Schemes.

New Programmes / Projects
We are gaining considerable increased awareness from the media and the new CORGI Trust website and gaining more enquiries about potential funding for programmes and projects. These are a few that have been submitted over the last few months:
- Hertfordshire Youth development Programmes (Pilot)
- RoSPA Laser Programme development funding
- Kirklees Carbon Monoxide Action Group
- Death Incident Data Report (DIDR)
- College Curriculum development Programme (National)
- National Qualification development programme
We are working pro-actively to develop these programmes partnership with appropriate organisations and corporate businesses.
