The key focus of our work is the development of the Trust’s ‘Blue Flame’ Strategy and we are meeting the penetration of the majority of our stakeholder groups.

We welcome and appreciate your comments, questions and suggestions and are more than happy to meet with you to discuss the work of the Trust and develop mutually beneficial business opportunities so please email us at:  trustmanager@trustcorgi.com

If you would like to consider applying for CORGI Trust funding, please refer to Procedures, Terms and Conditions and the application form on the Trust website under How to Apply section

Hope you have a lovely summer holiday, and remember – Pack an audible carbon monoxide alarm in your suitcase!

I hope you find this latest E-Newsletter informative and useful.

Kind regards

The CORGI Awards Sponsor– The Contribution to Plumbing & Heating Award

The CORGI Trust is proud to be sponsoring the Contribution to Plumbing and Heating award at the 2009 CORGI Awards. This prestigious new award is hoped to be viewed as the ‘lifetime achievement’ award of the industry.  CORGI Awards that will take place during InstallerLive in Coventry, 8-11 September.

Meeting with Health & Safety Executive

The CORGI Trust has undertaken a number of meetings with the Health & Safety Executive, including Lord MacKenzie - Under Secretary of State, to discuss our future plans and to try and develop our partnership of working with the Gas Safe Register.

The HSE has indicated a keen interest that the Trust increases its focus to include all fossil fuels i.e. oil, coal, smokeless fuel and wood, as well as gas.

Meetings with Government

We have convened a number of meetings with various government departments to update and inform them of the work we are undertaking and how we can work together. Find out more here

The Carbon Monoxide Prevalence in A&E Departments Programme

This exciting programme is funded by a major grant from the Department of Health and coordinated by Simon Clarke, A&E Consultant at Frimley Hospital, Surrey. It will involve four A&E departments around England undertaking carbon monoxide measurements from suspected patients over a ‘pilot’ six month period.

The Trust is supporting by serving on the Advisory Group for this programme and hope that the data and results will provide useful for further work within the medical field that we are developing with two leading London teaching hospitals.

Where has the funding gone?

Over the last two years the CORGI Trust has funded many programmes, all of which are available to review on the Trust website under Grants Awarded section

Several of these programmes have been competed and we intend releasing their outcome reports as widely as possible and within a structured time frame.

The three initial programmes are:

  • Open – Flued Gas Boiler and Gas Fire Replacement Incentive Scheme
  • Carbon Monoxide Exposure Neurological Symptoms (CENSY)
  • Downstream Incident Data Report (DIDR) – 2007/08

All these reports will be placed on the Trust’s website as they are released and you will be informed of their release dates.

Bad News!

The CORGI Trust was forced to cancel both the fundraising Challenge events planned for last April and this coming September due to insufficient interest from the gas industry to enter teams.

For those teams that did enter we would like to express our appreciation as well as our sincere apologies for canceling.

The Carbon Monoxide Consumer Awareness Alliance (COCAA) Update

  • COCAA continues to recruit new members and we are in the process of approaching potential new members.
  • The Be Alarmed campaign continues to get the message about carbon monoxide to the consumers and will enter its second phase in the first week of October 2009.
  • The Home Safety Officer campaign that CORGI funded on behalf of COCAA during January/February 2009 achieved exceptional coverage with a reach to over 2.4 million people and was viewed as one of CORGI’s most successful campaigns ever!
  • We have updated the COCAA website and included several new fields of interest. If you would like to know more about COCAA’s work please visit www.becarbonmonoxideaware.com

CORGI Trust will have new name

The CORGI Trust announced in May 2009 that it was considering changing its name and following Trustees and Trust Members approval the name – Gas Safety Trust was agreed and was registered as a trading company. The Trustees have not yet decided the implementation date.

Allied to this is the fact that Trustees have decided to migrate the Trust away from the operational activities of CORGI and we are in the process of looking for new office accommodation.
